Gratitude

Woohooo I have a job!

I am so excited I can barely contain myself…I have a job, I will be getting paid, my zero bank account will be increasing significantly in the not too distant future!🤣

Last week was a weird week. For some reason, I got asked if I would cover reception and nursery classes the whole week. (in different schools) I ordinarily don’t agree to teach those teeny, tiny younglings. (They have always been just a little bit too needy for me) ……but I figured, seeing as I am technically broke…just maybe I shouldn’t be too fussy? And what can I say? I absolutely loved it……they’re soooo cute!!!! Granted they are still needy but I think older (oh so much wiser) Gayle has more patience than she did in her early twenties so it doesn’t really bother me that much now. Besides which ….they seriously are the easiest humans in the world to make laugh!

So on Friday last week, I got asked to cover a nursery in a school that is 35 minutes away from my house. I literally walk up the road, 1min to the bus stop, and climb on the E2 bus…..16 stops later I get off at the bus stop, which is 30 seconds away from the school. The school is amazing, small, personal, really friendly staff, a headmaster that actually comes to meet you and find out how your day has been and did I mention freaking 35 minutes away from my home??😉 Even if all the buses in London broke down I could still walk home in 55 minutes.

Anyway, so I had this awesome day on Friday. I spent the morning in the nursery and the afternoon covering PPA time (Planning, Preparation and Assessment time for the teachers in the school) …..I sat there thinking this is the life!! Float in – have fun with the kids for an hour or so, (no horrendous planning) and then breeze into the next class. Made a mental plea “Dear God, this is what I want!”

Well God heard me because I have just been offered a job at that school. I will be the nursery teacher in the morning and cover the Reception, Grade 1 and Grade 2 teachers in the afternoon. The post is available up until the end of this school year and then I will have the option to become full-time if I like after that. The Teaching Assistant in the class couldn’t be more lovely. Motherly, kind and just so good with the children.

I think its quite fitting that today would have been my mother’s 78th birthday. I can’t help but think that God asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she said: “Find my daughter a job!! And just for the fun God, why don’t you put her it in a Catholic school!!!🤣” So there you have it…I am now officially a Catholic school nursery teacher. My good friends and family who know me well will be silently laughing at the irony! I have already had strict instructions from my brother not to talk about reincarnation with my kids! Damn it’s going to be hard.😉 But I shall be strong! I am pretty sure the most important thing is ‘love’ and that I have a lot of💘💘

So I am overflowing with gratitude tonight…..thanks for sharing my joy with me!!

Lots of love 💜🤗💕💝😘
