Just a little bit of skin…

Approximate reading time: 3 minutes

I also just wanted to say thanks for joining me on my journey. I do notice the regular people who log on to read and even though, at the moment you are, just city names and IP addresses I really do appreciate it.

I myself am having a perfectly chilled Christmas day with Nino!

Just look at that face!!!

********

Nino is a gorgeous

Italian greyhound,

Who runs around the house,

never making a sound.

It’s been two days on the job

and I have to say

We had some teething problems

when I came to stay.

According to his owner’s

very explicit notes,

Nino sleeps in his crate,

he gets no votes!

HA!

I do wonder

does anyone perhaps know

If dearest Nino got a copy

of THAT memo?

Cause the rascal was having

non of that crap

he was sharing my bed

and that was just that!

So ever so kindly

I let him sleep with me

but it was like sharing with a mouse

with chronic PTSD

Or a small rat on acid

a better description yet

running riot continuously

all over my head.

He just wouldn’t settle.

There was nothing I could do,

to calm this skinny creature,

his anxiety grew.

Then after an hour,

I attempted ‘ tough love.’

(I was exhausted you know,

I had HAD enough.)

So I defiantly closed

my bedroom door

and then did my very best

to quietly ignore

The winning and scratching

sound that he made.

(He’s a relentless little bugger,

that’s all I can say!)

I lasted 20 minutes

and then I gave in…

(Was this a game

I could never win?)

I was so bloody exhausted

it was quarter to three.

Feeling ever so frazzled:

“Will he EVER sleep?”

As I lay in my hazy

sleepless limbo.

I contemplated throwing Nino

right out the window.

But then by miracle,

(divine intervention of sorts)

An answer to the problem

I’m happy to report…

I was prompted to simply

lift up the duvet

Nino crawled inside,

he was suddenly OK!

All he wanted was to curl

up close next to me

(OH Good Lord could it really

have been that easy?)

The moral of the story

is Nino will only sleep

When he is cuddled up in a ball,

warm underneath

A blanket and hopefully

with somebodies skin close by.

He is the ultimate snuggle bug,

I cannot lie.

I’m not particularly religious but I love this song!

Just such a lovely little piece of Africa., so I thought I would share it!
