….I’m still alive!

So just a quick update for all my followers that had a sleepless night last night due to my ear woes.  (Namely my mother:-)

Woke up this morning only to discover I no longer needed to touch my ear to feel pain…it was just plain painful.

Checked out of my room. (Miserable)

Ate breakfast. (Even more miserable)

I eventually decided, (being the mild hypochondriac that I am), that google doctor might not be the best thing to trust right now and I indeed need to find a real doctor.

My friendly taxi Man, Sittarm, (aka my fellow ‘puppy saving buddy’)  arrived as prebooked to take me to my meditation course ( the one I decided to axe yesterday) and I asked him to take me to the Global Hospital instead. He informed me on the way over there that he liked having me as a friend….which I thought was rather sweet, but only just egged on the massive tidal wave of tears that I was holding back. Let’s see the whole hospital experience probably took about 10 minutes in total….enough time for the very sweet lady doctor to inform an overwrought Gayle there was no infection and that no, I wasn’t going to die. Apparently, my ear simply has a cold. (No bite marks mum, just a cold!) I was given a prescription for antihistamines and some painkillers for which I paid a grand total of RS 31. On leaving the hospital I discovered, much to my excitement that they had a beautiful, secluded garden with a swing chair in it.
I was able to sit down and simply enjoy the beauty of Mount Abu for a whole hour…it was amazing! So all drugged up and with some much-needed RR I felt a lot more ready to face the world again. Spent the afternoon at a Mind, body, Spirit seminar which was ok. Nothing to write home about. And then came back home. I think I am ready to leave Mount Abu!

Sittarm is coming to fetch me at 5.30 and we are going to go and visit Satnav on our way to dropping me at the bus station. (here’s hoping satnav is still alive!) I’m getting the night bus to Jaipur tonight! My ear is feeling a lot better and there is every indication that I WILL make a full recovery! ( You can stop worrying now mum!;-)

  2. hello to the Giant one, brenda and all who have missed me. The midget is back!;O)and she is currently spreading her midgetness in a town called Hue in vietnam. Now my adventures have not reached the dizzy heights of the giant's travels, for i have not met a raj, or made a special taxi friend, or indeed saved any animals. however, i can proudly say that i now cross the roads 'Saigon style'. this takes all of about no time to practise as it starts from the moment you step out in saigon. to be fully successful in this art, first one must adopt the facial expression which is thus: slightly shut panicked eyes on a completly worried and scared face. secondly you then need to adopt the walk. this is a very hesitant first step onto the road accompanied by a lot of head looking from side to side and then a foot shuffle as you feel you are heading towards your doom, followed by a little hop and skip as you reach the other side of what are massive expanses of tarmac in relief. Once you have mastered this, you are indeed ready to walk across the throng of mopeds and cars that teem the streets of Saigon that do not stop for anything! So,so far so good. i do however have a cunning trick of walking behind locals as they cross and only on a few occasions have they noticed, smiled and then to my shame ushered me across safely wedged between them. this is equal to my shame of not being able to eat with chop sticks and having not one, but two waiters givng me a spoon and a fork to play with. i tried to explain that they werent midget chop sticks for midget hands but i think it was lost in translation. well i guess not everyone gets a midget. :o)

  3. O Midget it is good to have you back on Gayle's blog – so happy you managed to cross those roads unhurt and that you live to share more or your anecdotes with us!! We have had a quiet few days for the Giant one but I have it from the horses mouth that one will be here tomorrow. Enjoy your stay in Siagon – hope we meet some day!! love Mom Hill
