Charity - South Africa, Gratitude

Every little bit helps….

For the last 3 months,  since I lost my job due to the virus, I have been living off the UK government-funded Furlough pay. It has made me very aware of how grateful I am to be living in a country that was able to support me during this COVID 19 period. It also made me a lot more conscious and aware of those millions of people, around the world, who haven’t been so lucky.

I was recently chatting to a friend of mine in South Africa,  Mark Lawler, who is the director of the Ubomi Obutsha Centre in Port Elizabeth. This centre works in the community supporting orphaned and vulnerable children.  Obviously, with the lockdown, things have been particularly tough for so many families in SA. Families that now have absolutely no money coming in.  Mark and his team are, in my eyes, some of the unsung heroes, who have been working tirelessly to try and support as many families as they can during this time.

So after our chat, I decided I wanted to try to do a little bit to help support this cause as it is something that is so close to my heart.

Millions of SA children going hungry | UCT News

No child should ever have to go hungry.

So I am hoping to raise  £1000 (or as close to) within the next month.

I’m not expecting huge donations, all I essentially need is 200 people to donate ….just £5!

Just to give you a little idea of how much £5 pounds is really worth….

A 200G BOX OF Lindt Lindor Assorted Chocolate Truffles (£5)
A pint of beer (£5.19)
A Chicken BLT Salad Deli Sandwich from Starbucks (£4.73)

One nutritious meal for 1 child for at least 10 days. (£5)

(It kind of puts things into perspective…don’t you think?🧏🏽‍♀️ )

CHILDREN of WALMER TOWNSHIP, a photo from Eastern Cape, West ...

£1000 that would then provide 200 children with the same.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

So thank you for taking the time to read this I really do appreciate it. If you feel able to donate that would be amazing, if you can’t then that’s also absolutely fine…..simply sharing this post will be enough. 🙏🏽

With much l💜ve
